Closed Door Stopped Electric Heater Fire from Spreading

A closed door stopped a fire from an electric heater that destroyed a bedroom spreading through a home on Saturday evening.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue — who arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the ground-floor — said the resident's "wise decision" to close the door behind them as they left kept the fire damage to the bedroom, leaving the rest of the home untouched.

One person was treated at the scene by South Central Ambulance Service paramedics.
