FSRI Advances Industry Knowledge through Contributions to the SFPE Handbook
The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) recently released the sixth edition of its flagship handbook, the SFPE Handbook of Fire Protection Engineering. This leading technical reference on fire protection engineering features new and substantially updated information in its latest edition and provides expert-level insight into the current best practices in fire protection engineering and performance-based fire safety.
Authored in Collaboration with Industry Experts
The SFPE Handbook of Fire Protection Engineers is authored by over 200 eminent fire engineers and researchers. Representing universities and professional organizations globally, this resource is the result of the utmost level of collaboration, providing exceptional industry knowledge to its readers.
Four FSRI team members are proud to have contributed invaluable specialized knowledge and expertise with their fellow industry leaders:
- FSRI principal research engineer Charley Fleischmann authored chapter 1—3 on fire scenarios, alongside Colleen Wade from the Fire Research Group.
- FSRI director of research Craig Weinschenk authored chapter 3—22 on convection heat transfer with Arvind Atreya from the University of Michigan.
- FSRI principal research engineer Jason Floyd authored chapter 5—36 on flame height, fire plumes, and ceiling jet, alongside Sean Hunt from Jensen Hughes. Jason and Sean also co-authored chapter 5—37 on vent flows.
- Finally, FSRI lead research engineer Matt DiDomizio authored chapter 9—74 on liquid fuel fire with Dan Gottuk from Gottuk Engineering to complete the quintet of chapters.
