Doug Mansen
Video and Multimedia Production Intern Promoted to Associate Multimedia Designer

When Doug Mansen joined UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) as a Video and Multimedia Production Intern in April 2022, he quickly became a valuable resource to the digital media team. He played an integral role supporting the creation of instructional content with audio recording and editing for many online courses in the Fire Safety Academy (FSA). He also captured photography and video of several FSRI research project experiments and became such a pivotal member of the team, that he was invited to join the staff full time in the role of Associate Multimedia Designer.

Doug in action

Doug graduated from Towson University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic media and film. He then earned his video production certificate from Montgomery College in 2022. Doug also has experience with recording and editing sound for symphonic orchestra concerts and stage productions.

“Doug has been a great addition to the digital team. His deep technical knowledge and skills in audio production filled a void and have already had a positive impact on the content that we produce. His editing speed, technical troubleshooting ability, and organization with our photography and video database have been a big bonus.” -Pete Cousté, Senior Multimedia Designer

As Associate Multimedia Designer, Doug will continue to support the digital media production team with capturing audio and photography for FSRI research project experiments while maintaining the multimedia database for research amplification. He will also support the instructional design team with audio recording and editing for online courses.

FSRI is proud to provide support for students throughout their internships and careers. The Internship Program offers a wide range of opportunities for motivated students to contribute to the FSRI mission of addressing unsolved safety risks in the world. Throughout the years, many of our interns have gone on to graduate and begin their careers at FSRI.
