The 2025 Public Education Advisory Committee held its annual fall meeting – bringing together members from across the country for three days of collaboration, learning, and engagement in our nation’s capital. From September 30th to October 2nd, attendees participated in a series of collaborative sessions, strategic discussions, and networking opportunities that underscored our shared commitment to advancing public education and safety initiatives.
Advancing the Next Chapter in Public Education
The meeting began with an evening welcome dinner that provided time for networking and reconnection among colleagues. This early gathering set a positive tone for the collaborative discussions and sessions that followed.
On October 1st, the meeting opened with a welcome session and an overview of the 2025 Public Education strategy. UL Research Institutes' Fire Safety Research Institute, Outreach & Engagement team, introduced the new Public Relations function, followed by in-depth discussions about the progress of the Fire Prevention & Safety Grant that was awarded by the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency, and committee development to help support several upcoming public education initiatives. The day concluded with insights into the upcoming Take C.H.A.R.G.E. of Battery Safety holiday campaign and a group dinner, which was followed by an evening tour highlighting many of Washington’s historic landmarks.
Concluding on October 2nd, the final day featured a joint advisory committee meeting with the Training Advisory Committee focused on analyzing our primary audiences, exploring how to better reach them, and identifying strategies to connect with new audiences.
ULRI's Fire Safety Research Institute expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to another successful meeting. The input and participation from this year’s meeting continues to shape our mission and strengthen our impact. We look forward to continuing to develop strategic initiatives that will drive our public education efforts.
