Thérèse Mulvey’s career is deeply rooted in communications and consumer research. When leading various divisions at numerous advertising and marketing agencies, Thérèse built her work around her core interests: understanding consumer behavior, exploring why we do what we do, and examining both the differences and common threads that shape us. Now, as the newest addition to the UL Research Institutes’ Fire Safety Research Institute Advisory Board, she is bringing her expertise to better understand the target audiences of ULRI’s fire safety team and how to translate safety science to a more fire safe world.
Leveraging Communications in Safety Science
As the first advisory board member with a marketing and communications background, Thérèse hopes to offer fresh insights from a different perspective. Valuing collaboration and diverse ideas, Thérèse is excited to work alongside her new colleagues in offering high-level strategic direction for the institute’s research and amplification initiatives. When prompted about what interests her about ULRI’s fire safety research, she explained that, after her career in advertising, she is inspired by the life-saving research and by how that work is effectively communicated to different audiences.
“I’m excited to get more involved with ULRI’s fire research team. I’ve been sincerely impressed with the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with, the culture of this team, and the critical work being conducted.”
