Strip Mall Fire Experiments - Visitor Day in Fairborn, OH

September 26, 2019

UL's Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) partnered with the City of Fairborn Fire Department to conduct a series of experiments involving live fire as part of our 2015 AFG “Study of Coordinated Fire Attack utilizing Acquired Structures” research project. The experiments were conducted in a strip mall that was slated for demolition. Members from the City of Fairborn and surrounding fire departments participated in the experiments.

On September 17, 2019, we invited visitors to our test site located at the Skyway Shopping Plaza, 1067-1090 Kauffman Avenue, Fairborn, Ohio. The day began at 0800 hours and ran through approximately 1600 hours. Visitors were able to view the structure, instrumentation, and test plan prior to witnessing two full-scale experiments and networking with project technical panel members.
