UL Research Institutes’ Fire Safety Research Institute recognizes there is still a need to raise awareness of the prevalence of lithium-ion battery-powered products in our everyday lives. That’s why it’s more important than ever to encourage the public to safely purchase, use, and dispose of products with lithium-ion batteries by emphasizing best practices at home and on the go—especially during the holiday season when traveling reaches its peak.
Expanding Our Take C.H.A.R.G.E. Resources
To deliver this message, we’ve developed new toolkits and resources for public safety educators to download and use to educate their community on the importance of battery safety.
The free digital and print resources to educate your community on the risks of lithium-ion batteries and the latest fire safety messages are available for access anytime through our First Responders Toolbox.
Download and share videos, social media posts, PR materials, and more!
Our expanded outreach toolkits will help deliver our key safety messaging by engaging community members in various outreach strategies and reinforcing the TCBS message throughout multiple touchpoints. As a trusted organization in safety science, our fact sheets, infographics, and escape plan guides translate our technical research into actionable, easy-to-understand steps that the general public can take to practice safe battery habits. Meanwhile, our stickers, door hangers, and t-shirts will serve as conversation starters throughout your local communities as we encourage everyone to take charge of battery safety this holiday season.
Meeting The Public Where They Are
Looking to the centerpiece of this year’s campaign, ULRI’s Fire Safety Research Institute hosted an in-person activation at Toronto’s Union Station—a high-traffic, high-visibility location that welcomes more than 300,000 daily travelers. As one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs, Union Station offers an ideal platform to reach residents and commuters from across the region. This engagement kicked off our official TCBS and holiday safety efforts, helping raise public understanding of lithium-ion battery (LiB) risks and encouraging safe everyday use.
"Lithium-ion battery safety should always be prioritized– particularly during the holiday season. Because of the increased travel and usage of lithium-ion battery devices, it is important to stay vigilant so that you and your family can enjoy your holidays safely."
