The Society of Fire Protection Engineers Welcomes ULRI’s Jonathan Hodges as Chair of the Research, Tools & Methods Committee
Jonathan Hodges, Ph.D., a lead research engineer at UL Research Institutes' Fire Safety Research Institute has been appointed as the new chair of the Research, Tools & Methods Committee at The Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
Prior to becoming chair, Hodges was a longstanding member of the RTM Committee, contributing updates to the S.01 SFPE Standard on Calculating Fire Exposures to Structures and the SFPE Engineering Guide on Fire Model Substantiation. He also serves on the SFPE Foundation's Board of Governors and the editorial board of the Fire Safety Journal.
Highlights of Hodges' extensive research career include his work on advanced pyrolysis, combustion, and heat transfer submodels in the Fire Dynamics Simulator and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to problems in fire modeling, wildfire spread, and risk assessment.
