IAFC CRRL Leadership Conference 2026

Lithium-ion battery safety is becoming a growing concern in community risk reduction, and many departments are still figuring out what kinds of education tools, messages, and delivery strategies are most practical for local use. In this session, the Fire Safety Research Institute will share emerging resources and lessons from the Take CHARGE project, including a public-facing interactive, community education tools, and educator support materials, and invite CRR leaders to react to them.

Participants will offer feedback on what feels most useful, what may be difficult to implement, what kinds of support would reduce staff burden, and what channels, messengers, and formats are most realistic in their communities. The session is intended to surface ideas that can strengthen the usability, relevance, and local applicability of fire safety researchers' developing lithium-ion battery safety resource ecosystem.
