Thermal imaging cameras are an important piece of technology used by firefighters to assist in search and rescue operations, locate fire and monitor fire behavior within a structure.

Like with any technology, thermal imagers have limitations. To be most effective, firefighters must be equally aware of the applicable uses as well as the shortcomings.
